Death of Sister Alix Merat
After a long illness bravely borne, Sister Alix, Sister of St. Paul de Chartres, passed away on Monday 17 August, at St. Paul’s Hospital, Causeway Bay.
Well-known and remembered by her countless students in the old “French Convent
School” (now St. Paul’s Convent School), Sister Alix had always shown a
particular concern for her class in her quiet but sincere way. Besides being the
long-term teacher of her mother-tongue, French, Sister Alix had served several
times as Examiner in the public examinations established by the Education
Department. Sister Alix was a great artist - her paintings were exquisitely
harmonized and her taste for flower-arrangement reflected a certain refinement.
Now with Our Blessed Mother for whom she had a special devotion, may she enjoy
her eternal reward.
