Death of Mother Helena Da Silva F.D.C.C.
R.I.P.
Mother Helena Maria Conceicao Da Silva - Canossian Daughter of Charity - went to her reward on 25 February 1982, after a painful illness, borne with exemplary endurance and spirit of faith.
She was born in Hong Kong, in 1913, the seventh of fourteen children in a Catholic family, from which she received a strong religious foundation. This was strengthened by her education with the Canossian Sisters, at the end of which, in 1934, she followed God’s call, consecrating her life in the Canossian ranks.
As a teacher, for a decade, at St. Francis’, at St. Mary’s and at Sacred Heart, Mother Helena was appreciated by all her students for her goodness and loving dedication.
Repeated appointed Assistant and Superior in Communities, and
for five years a valuable helper at the General house in Rome, she was to the
Sisters an example of a true Daughter of Charity, outstanding in her delicate
love and humble service which, joined to an ever cheerful and happy nature,
brought warmth to community life.
