Mother Josephine Sala of the Canossian Sisters died peacefully in the infirmary of the Provincial House, 26 Caine Road, on 17 October 1970.
She was born at Segrate (Milan) in 1892. In 1914 she entered the Novitiate of the Canossian Sisters for the Missions and in 1920 she was sent to China and assigned to the Shensi Province. There she remained teaching in the various schools until 1947 when she was recalled to Hong Kong to fill the office of Assistant Secretary to Rev. Mother Delegate - an office she kept for ten years.
In 1960 her health began to fail and she went to the
Infirmary to rest. Though freed from the responsibility of her office she
remained an invaluable helper in the Provincial Office Almost to the end.
